This petite chateau is a charming blend of French and English architectural elements.
Designed by Christopher Doyle Architects, this house is an elegant expression of French vernacular traditions fused with the local traditions of interwar villa building of which there are many fine local examples.
The house incorporates both classic French planning devices such as ‘axis and envilades’ creating intricate and natural connections between rooms and house functions, from the inside spaces to the exterior Paul Bangay garden.
Both the front and rear courtyards serve both a formal room at the front, and an informal room to the rear.
The result is a house that displays all the qualities of ‘timeless design’ through materials, careful planning and attention to detail.
